Mar Mathai Kochuparampil SDB is the first bishop from the eparchy of Kanjirapally. He belonged to the parish of Chembalam. From 1975 he was the vice-provincial and from 1979 provincial of SDB Guwahati Province. He was appointed bishop of Dimphu diocese on December 21, 1983. Till his demise in 1992, he was the bishop of Dimphu.
