KCBC Education Commission

Reflecting the vision and mission of the KCBC Education Commission, the following Core Values are identified as the guiding principles in functioning of Education Commission

KCBC Commission Trust for Education is one of active and vibrant commissions of Kerala Catholic Bishops Council.It takes initiative to organize various activities for the smooth functioning of all the institutions of the Catholic Church in Kerala upholding the values and protecting our constitutional rights.

At the very outset, the present commission gratefully acknowledges the leadership and contributions of Mar Andrews Thazhath,the Archbishop of Trichur as Chairman,Dr. Samuel Mar Ireniose,Bishop of Pathanamthitta and Dr. Christudas R, Auxiliary Bishop of Trivandrum Latin Archdiocese as vice chairmen of the commission. Fr. Jose Karivelickal from the diocese of Idukki served the commission as secretary very remarkably and animated the various activities of the commission to its height.

Different forums and organizations of the commission

The commission constitutes various bodies for its effective functioning. But due to Covid 19, reorganization of the bodies did not take place and they continue their commitment in promoting the educational empowerment of our students, teachers and institutions.

  1. An advisory body is constituted of experts from academic, administrative, judicial and public field gives valuable support and guidance in confronting the issues effectively.
  2. Kerala Catholic Teachers Guild (KCTG) an organization for the Catholic Teachers in our schools organizes various activities to protect the service matters of the teachers. It also organizes various programmes for the empowerment of teachers. Sri.SaluPathalil (Trivandrum Major Arch Diocese) is the President of the Guild, Sri.JoshyVadakan (Trichur Arch Diocese) is the General Secretary and Sri. Jose Antony (Alleppy Diocese) is the Treasurer.
  3. Kerala Catholic Students League (KCSL)is an organization for Catholic Students in our schools which undertakes various activities to develop value oriented leaders from our schools.

More than 3000 aided and unaided schools are in these managements. It is almost 36% (8286) of private schools arerun by the Catholics in the state.
